What are the bones?
The bones are a musical instrument historically fashioned out of animal bones, however today are more often made of wood or plastic. They are a percussive instrument; two are held in each hand and the performer's wrist movements strike them rhythmically against each other to produce a "clacking" sound. They appear most commonly in genres of music such as: traditional Irish music, the Blues, Old Time, Zydeco, French-Canadian music, and music from Cape Breton in Nova Scotia. Robie Bones uses a variety of bones to produce his own unique sound across several genres.
What is a bodhran?
The bodhran is an Irish frame drum, typically 14" - 18" in diameter. The drum is struck either with a bare hand or with a lathe-turned piece of wood, (or with some bones!).
Does Robie Bones play any other instruments?
